Post-rock masters Godspeed You! Black Emperor released this album in 2002 before going on indefinite hiatus, and that has been the status of the band ever since. This album, overall, has a more urgent, if not panicked, feel to it... a sort of "impending apocalypse" atmosphere, yet still contains the trademarks Godspeed characteristics, from delicate, bleak, somber passages, building crescendos, to absolutely glorious, sweeping sections, absolutely awash with guitars and feedback, creating an almost cathartic atmosphere.
